Protective forest
Productive forest whose ecosystem services or special functions are specifically protected under the Forest Law and the Law on the Protection of Agricultural and Forest Land. In a protective forest, forest management shall be carried out in such a way as to ensure that it continuously fulfills the purposes for which it was set aside. For certain areas of such a forest, special ways of forest management may be established. It is subject to a system of specific public-legal requirements that ensure increased protection of the forest ecosystem from allocation for non-forest purposes. Recognition or deprivation of protection is carried out by an administrative decision. For state forests, it is taken by the minister responsible for the environment, and for private and communal forests by the district governor (after obtaining the owner's permission).
